An academy of art and industry

Founded in 1825, the Stroganov Academy belongs to the Russian tradition of schools of applied art and industry. Its name is associated with the Stroganov dynasty and with artistic and decorative teaching.

It is an institution of a different kind from the other universities in the network: it trains neither doctors nor engineers, but artists, designers and practitioners of the applied arts.

A profile that does not match our five programmes

Let us say it plainly rather than gloss over it: none of the five programmes presented on this site — general medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, engineering and technology, economics and management — matches the profile of this institution.

If you are aiming at art or design, it is a lead worth exploring, but it falls outside the paths we document today. If you are aiming at one of the five programmes above, look to the other universities in the network.

What to verify with the institution

We found no institutional source confirming the following points for international students. They should therefore be asked about directly before taking any steps.

  • Whether a preparatory faculty for international students exists
  • Which art programmes are genuinely open to international applicants and their admission requirements, which generally include a test or a portfolio
  • The language of instruction and the accommodation arrangements

Programmes open to international students

The status of each of the five programmes we document. "To be verified" means no institutional source allowed us to settle the question: it is neither a yes nor a no, and it is confirmed with the institution for the academic year concerned.

Can this university suit a Tunisian, Moroccan or Algerian student?

Admission requirements vary by programme and by the nationality of the applicant. A Tunisian, Moroccan or Algerian student must check the official requirements applying to their own file before starting the procedure. Here are the points to check, in this order.

  1. Your secondary school leaving certificate and its recognition by the institution you are targeting
  2. Whether the programme you want is open to international students for the year concerned
  3. The language of instruction of the full course, and the level required
  4. Whether a preparatory year of Russian is needed
  5. Any admission tests or interviews
  6. The exact list of documents to be translated and legalised
  7. The lead times for the invitation letter and the student visa
  8. Accommodation arrangements and the total annual budget
